The 23rd East China Fair Reception (11/19/2012)
East China Fair (ECF) is the largest regional trade fair in China with the most traders, great variety of exhibits and the most onsite deals. With an annual 5-days session in March in Shanghai, ECF is supported by Ministry of Commerce of the People¡¦s Republic of China and is co-sponsored by nine provinces and cities. East China Fair, initiated in 1991 and thereafter 22 sessions have been held succrssfully. The 22nd East China Fair was held at Shanghai New International Expo Center, from March 1st to 5th, 2012, with an exhibition area of 115,000sqm. There were four specialized exhibition areas whith 5,880 standard booths and 3420 enterprises, namely Fashion/Garments, Home Textiles, Consumer Goods and Art Deco Gifts. The 22nd East China Fair had 21,124 business visitors from 128 countries and regions as well as 22,000 of their Chinese counterparts. The trade volume amounted to about 3.122 billion US dollars.

Can China Sustain its Fast Economic Growth in Coming Two Decades? --- Its Business Opportunities

Dr. Bill Y. Chen, Professor in Business Administration and CFO of the UWest, will give a guest lecture for Prof. Michael Eng's class- MBA 558 Seminar on Doing Business in China. Dr. Chen will discuss whether China will be able to sustain its fast economic growth in coming two decades; and then explore future business opportunities in China.
Dr. Chen has been the Professor at UWest since 1996; he was the Chair of the Department of Business Administration until September, this year. Now, he is the Chief Financial Officer of the University. He received his Master's Degree in Management from Tianjin University, China and a Ph. D. with specialty in Finance from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Chen recently published several articles on China?s economy, government-owned enterprise reforms, and issues of China?s exports.
Mr. Michael Eng is the California State Assemblyman. He is teaching a special class at UWest this semester. His class invites guest speakers with expertise in different subjects to discuss how to do business in China, including Hong Kong.

Chinese Direct Investment in California Conference (10/11/2012)
On October 11, the Asia Society will release a new report that assesses the patterns and impacts of Chinese direct investment in California and provides policy and business leaders in the state with recommendations on how to attract further investment and maximize its benefits. This new report builds on a 2011 Asia Society study, entitled An American Open Door? Maximizing the Benefits of Chinese Direct Investment, which looked at investment flows from China into the U.S. more broadly.

On May 9, the University of California, Riverside¡¦s School of Business Administration hosted Cheng Lu, president of the Chinese CEO Organization and chairman and CFO of East-West Logistics, Inc. Accompanied by the Chinese CEO Organization's Vice President Lisa Zhou and CFO Tony Sun, Lu toured the campus facilities and met with Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Dallas L. Rabenstein as well as Vice Chancellor for University Advancement Peter A. Hayashida.
