President's Message
February 16, 2008
Dear Honorable Guests and Chinese CEO Organization Members:
It's a distinct honor and a great pleasure to welcome you to the Chinese CEO
Organization's 2008 Chinese New Year Gala and our 11th Board Inauguration
Ceremony.
Since its founding in 1996, the Chinese CEO Organization has been actively
promoting commercial trade and other economic activities between the US and
China. It has achieved great success in providing mutual benefits for its
members in terms of business expansion and career advancement. Our past
President, David Liu, his team of board directors, as well as other members
have all worked diligently to make ours one of the most successful organizations
of this type in Southern California. We are very grateful for their hard work,
dedication, and service.
Today, as the new Board of Directors is inaugurated here, we feel that we still
have a long way to go and understand that there will be always new challenges,
new goals and horizons awaiting us. As Sir Winston Churchill once said, "I have
nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat." We are confident that we
will succeed, with hope and optimism, hard work and dedication, cooperation and
team work, with the help of you, our members and friends. We pledge that we will
do our best to further promote trade and economic exchange programs between the
US and China, provide better benefits and services to our members, contribute
more to our communities, and build an even stronger organization.
The New Year is a time to celebrate and enjoy, and we are very fortunate that
we live on the land of peace and prosperity. I believe that you have all learned
that recently there was a severe snowstorm in China which spread across many
parts of the country, causing serious damages to properties and the lives of
millions of people. To help the relief efforts of this snowstorm, I invite you
and urge you to participate in tonight's fundraising event and contribute
whatever you can to assist those who are in trouble, and I thank you for your
kindness and generosity.
On behalf of the new Board of Directors, I would like to express our sincere
gratitude to all the corporate and individual sponsors and the working committee
for tonight's event. We are honored to have Mr. Geoffrey Garrett, President of
Pacific Council on International Policy, as our keynote speaker, and his speech
will certainly bring new insight to our understanding of the US and China trade
relations in the context of globalization.
May you all have a memorable evening and happy Chinese new year!
Sincerely Yours,
Richard Y. Lee, Ph.D.
President
Chinese CEO Organization
